The 2nd Edition of the FRP Composites Grating Manual for Pultruded and Molded Grating and Stair Treads, reaffirmed on April 29, 2025, provides updates and enhancements for uniform information for safe and efficient design of FRP gratings. The FRP Composites Grating Manual has 3 main sections:
Load Tables: A reference for engineers to compare the performance of FRP grating series under specified load conditions. Values are based upon nominal dimensions and minimum properties of bearing bars. Both Uniform Load or Concentrated Line Load are presented including the Apparent Stiffness, EI (lb-in2) and Maximum Recommended Loads.
Standard Specification: Suggested guidance for engineers and owners when procurement purchases the grating, keeping all manufacturers on a level playing field.
Standard Practices: Representation of generally accepted standard practices in the fiberglass grating industry.
In addition, guidance is provided on recommended installation and connection details including panel and cutting tolerances and grating clearances. This document is a resource for design engineers to properly specify FRP composites grating products in all types of applications.
